Mr. Abraham John Tharakan is the Chairman of the Amalgam Group of Companies based in Kochi, Kerala. He holds a Masters Degree in Economics from St. Stephen’s College, Delhi.
He established the seafood Company, Amalgam Foods Limited (AFL), in 1977 which became one of the largest exporters of seafood. Amalgam Group of Companies are the pioneers of introducing the country’s first:
- Individually Quick Freezing Facility for value-added seafood exports from India,
- Freeze Drying Factory,
- Compounded Shrimp Feed Factory, and
- Domestic Cold Chain Logistics Company.
The Amalgam Group’s business involves seafood exports, spices, noodles and ready-to-eat foods, with an annual turnover of US$ 80 Million per annum. The main activity is export of value-added seafood products.
