Mr Amod Ashok Salgaonkar did his master’s degree in Fisheries Resource Management (FRM) in 2010 from Central Institute of Fisheries Education. He is a diversified industry professional handled multiple roles & portfolios in various branches of seafood business. He has strong experience in buying & merchandising, strategy & negotiations, marketing, planning & development of the businesses in different verticals of food & especially seafood business which involved but not limited to modern trade, cash & carry, HoReCa, general trade & online segment. He views the industry by being involving directly through engagements in trade aspects & promotions, sustainability, climate change impacts etc. His knowledge about Remote Sensing & GIS has helped him worked on projects like Potential Fishing Zones in the past. In his previous assignments, he worked at reputed organizations like Reliance Retail, Bharti-Walmart, METRO Cash & Carry India, HyperCITY Retail where he headed categories like seafood & meat, dairy & frozen food. His core strength lies in bringing effective solutions to business challenges & building differentiation for strategic advantages for the business.

His previous experience as an International Advisory Board Member at Friend of the Sea has given him a broad understanding about sustainable ecolabels in fisheries & aquaculture globally. Amod has performed the role as an International Observer at events of FAO & INFOFISH in the past. He was instrumental in launching World’s first international sustainable ecolabel on plant-based seafood in 2020. Amod is the business advisory board member at Good Food Institute India besides having associations at various other organizations in different capacities. He given a talk at some national & international conferences on different seafood & aquaculture subjects however he is keen on learning the ESG, Blue Bonds initiatives fruitful for Blue Economy other than understanding carbon capture initiatives as a tool for developing sustainable seafood businesses. He knows about animal advocacy, involved in some projects of fish animal welfare & also being invited by many organizations to support for developing “Alternative Seafood” theme.

Amod strongly believes that he has a base of science, good experience in trade, know the sustainability & ESG, alternative seafood, has built relationships across all levels viz corporate-government-industry-academia & his strong network across various mode of communication channels nationally & internationally will help him creating a strong voice for Sustainable Seafood Network of India. He has many short-term international courses from global institutes in his bag & presently he works through his own start-up A2S2 Enterprises which involves in seafood trade & consulting.
