DIALOGUES ON FISHERY CERTIFICATION FOR ACHIEVING SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT GOALS IN INDIA

The present Dialogues are envisioned to elaborate on the initiatives taken by India, to identify the
issues and problems, stakeholder commitments and to strengthen India’s commitment towards sustainable fisheries and towards achieving Sustainable Development Goals through fisheries certification. The dialogues are timed with the UN World Environment Day and the World Ocean Day.

Who should attend?
Fishery managers of the States and Centre, researchers, seafood exporters, development agencies, policy makers, academicians, and fisher organizations.

What is the program?
A dialogue space for expressing views of globally renowned speakers on SDGs and fisheries certification, that can influence policy.

WORLD FISHERIES DAY

World Fisheries Day is celebrated to recognize the importance of healthy ocean ecosystems and to ensure sustainable fish stocks in the world. Oceans are crucial to sustain life on earth as it influences our climate and are critical part of biosphere. This day aims to apprise the impact of human action on marine resources and create awareness on the sustainable management of world’s oceans.  This day is dedicated to highlight the importance of fishers and to demonstrate harmony with all fish-folk communities, fish farmers and other stakeholders across the world.
